Tehran, Iran – The Iranian capital, Tehran, is witnessing intense political activity, combining regional and international diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions with hardline military rhetoric. In this context, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei told the official Iranian news agency IRNA that important bilateral meetings would be held on Sunday morning with delegations from Pakistan and Qatar, acting as international mediators. This is a prelude to a broader round of political talks aimed at bridging differences and discussing contentious issues in the region.
A four-way meeting is expected to discuss a ceasefire.
In his official remarks, Baqaei confirmed that high-level quadrilateral meetings would be held Sunday afternoon between official delegations from Iran and the United States. Representatives from Qatar and Pakistan would also be present.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson explained that the main and fundamental topic of Sunday’s talks was the urgent need to implement the joint memorandum of understanding. There was also a focus on working towards an immediate cessation of hostilities on all active fronts in the region, including the volatile situation in Lebanon. He noted that the United States has either completely failed or deliberately refrained from implementing this key provision, while Israel continues to violate all its international obligations.
Revolutionary Guard: No reconciliation with America and Israel
In response to these diplomatic moves, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued strongly worded statements reflecting its commitment to the military option and its deep hostility toward Western powers. Abdullah Haji Sadeghi, the IRGC’s representative to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, declared, “The day will never come when we become friends with the United States, or when we will ever abandon our lofty ideals and our unwavering goal of destroying Israel.” Addressing both domestic and international audiences, Sadeghi asserted, “They are taking this wish to heart, hoping to see us march with them to the grave.”
Negotiations to secure rights and the field of jihad are the foundation
Hajj Sadeghi continued his attack, saying, “Our historical enmity will not end with arrogance. We do not negotiate at all for reconciliation or concessions, but only to obtain our full legitimate rights, just as in the conduct of battles and wars.”
The Supreme Leader’s representative in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps clarified the ideological and military stance, stating, “For us and all our forces, the primary and only option is the field of jihad and resistance, not the negotiating table. We are not at all concerned about these political and diplomatic negotiations, which may ultimately fail, nor are we worried about their outcome.”
