Tehran, Iran – The Iranian president affirmed that reaching a memorandum of understanding with the United States represents the best option for Tehran to break the deadlock imposed by the war. He emphasized that the continuation of the current situation serves the interests of no party. He also stated that pursuing a serious negotiating track could pave the way for addressing outstanding issues. The Iranian president said that his country views political and diplomatic understandings as a means to avoid further attrition and move towards a more stable phase. He clarified that any potential agreement must be based on respect for Iran’s national interests. Furthermore, it must guarantee the rights that Tehran considers fundamental to any future settlement.
He added that reaching a memorandum of understanding with Washington could help break the current deadlock. He also said that this could create an atmosphere conducive to discussing contentious issues away from military escalation, especially given the complexity of the regional landscape and growing fears of a wider confrontation. He pointed out that Iran still prefers solutions based on dialogue and understanding. He also considered that the continuation of the war without a clear political horizon would exacerbate losses and increase pressure on the region. At the same time, the various parties need practical steps to reduce tensions. The Iranian president’s statements come amidst ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at finding a way out of the crisis. There is anticipation regarding the positions of Washington and Tehran on the possibility of resuming the path to understanding. Discussions are also underway regarding the possibility of reaching arrangements that could pave the way for ending the stalemate in the war and opening a new chapter of negotiations.
