Cairo, Egypt – The Arab Republic of Egypt welcomed on Friday the joint statement issued by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It affirmed that this statement clearly embodies the unified Arab stance in confronting the recent attacks and threats facing the region. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an official statement, also affirmed Cairo’s full and unwavering solidarity with its sister Arab states. It declared its complete support for all legitimate measures taken by these countries to preserve their national security, stability, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
Condemnation of targeting facilities and threatening navigation
Egypt reiterated its categorical rejection and strong condemnation of any attempts to target the sovereignty of Arab states or to harm civilians, civilian facilities, and vital infrastructure. Furthermore, it condemned any hostile acts that threaten the security, safety, and freedom of international navigation in vital waterways. Cairo also stressed the paramount importance of respecting the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of states. It called for a complete cessation of the use of force or the threat of force in international relations. In addition, it emphasized the necessity of strict adherence to the principles of good neighborliness and non-interference in the internal affairs of states. This contributes effectively to strengthening the foundations of security and peace at both the regional and international levels.
Gulf and Jordanian condemnation of Iranian aggression
It is worth noting that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and Jordan issued a joint statement strongly condemning the “heinous aggression” perpetrated by Iran and its proxies against their territories and resources. The statement also affirmed their inherent and inalienable right to self-defense, both individually and collectively, a right enshrined in Article 51 of the UN Charter. This comes amidst rapidly evolving security developments and ongoing threats facing the region.
