Manama, Bahrain – The Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced this morning that sirens were sounding across the country. It urged all citizens and residents to exercise caution and immediately proceed to the nearest safe location. In an official statement posted on its X platform, the Ministry emphasized the importance of relying exclusively on official state sources for accurate information, news, and field updates.
Bahraini air defenses intercept
This precautionary measure follows the announcement by the General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force on Thursday. It stated that its air defense systems had successfully intercepted and destroyed several Iranian aerial attacks. These rapid developments on the ground also come amidst a state of heightened security alert in the region. The aim is to counter any potential threats to the internal front and vital interests.
Iranian military claims and the absence of official comment
In the same context, the Iranian military announced in an official statement that it had carried out drone attacks on Friday morning. The attacks targeted military sites and bases in both Bahrain and Jordan. The statement claimed that the attacks in Bahrain targeted fuel tanks, warehouses, equipment hangars, and living quarters belonging to US military personnel at Sheikh Isa Air Base.
The Iranian statement also claimed that aircraft hangars, maintenance facilities, and the living quarters of US forces at the Azraq airbase in Jordan were targeted in similar airstrikes that same morning. As of yet, there has been no official comment from US, Jordanian, or Bahraini officials regarding the Iranian military’s claims.
