Manama, Bahrain – The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an official statement, strongly condemned the attack on the Kingdom’s territory early Saturday morning, June 27, 2026, by a number of Iranian drones. Manama considered this attack a blatant violation of national sovereignty and a flagrant threat to the security of citizens and residents. It also deemed it a flagrant breach of international norms and conventions that prohibit targeting civilian objects and terrorizing innocent civilians.
The Ministry affirmed that the Iranian regime’s continued aggression, at a time when regional and international efforts are focused on de-escalation, places Tehran directly under responsibility for undermining peace efforts. This also reveals an approach based on destabilizing security and exporting chaos. Bahrain stressed that “peace cannot be built through intimidation, and security cannot be seized through aggression,” emphasizing that the Kingdom’s resolve and national unity are stronger than any threats.
The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026, which enjoyed broad international support. It stressed that this aggression represents a direct challenge to the international will. The Ministry noted that the attack constitutes a breach of the commitments made by Tehran under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 17. The Memorandum stipulated a permanent cessation of military operations and respect for the sovereignty of the region’s countries. This reflects the Iranian regime’s complete disregard for the international community and its commitments.
In closing, the Kingdom of Bahrain affirmed its full and legitimate right to defend its sovereignty, security, and stability in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The Ministry also called upon the UN Security Council to uphold its historical and legal responsibilities in ensuring the implementation of its resolution on de-escalation. It asserted that the aggressor must be held accountable to guarantee that such violations, which threaten peace and security in the region, are not repeated.
