Ankara, Turkey – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that the Islamabad agreement between the United States and Iran contributed to calming regional tensions,

noting that the world breathed a sigh of relief after the agreement was announced.

This came amidst concerns surrounding escalating tensions in the region.

Turkish support for de-escalation

Erdogan explained that Türkiye supports all steps and initiatives that would reduce tensions.

He also emphasized that dialogue and diplomatic means are

the best way to address regional crises and maintain security and stability.

A call for political solutions

Erdogan stressed the importance of continuing political

and diplomatic efforts to address outstanding issues.

He asserted that understandings that contribute to containing crises and avoiding military confrontations

are in the interest of the region’s people and the international community.

Emphasis on regional stability

Erdogan added that Ankara views positively any path that contributes

to resolving the region’s problems through peaceful means.

He affirmed his country’s continued support for initiatives that promote

regional stability and pave the way for sustainable political settlements.

Moreover, this reduces the risk of escalation and safeguards the security of the region and the interests of its countries.
