Tehran, Iran – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi criticized the economic policies pursued by the United States. He warned that expanding the scope of US sanctions and economic measures not only affects targeted countries but also has broader repercussions for the global economy and the principles of national sovereignty. Araqchi explained that employing economic tools in political conflicts contributes to increased instability in international markets. This also impacts trade and investment. He asserted that the continuation of this policy threatens the foundations of economic relations between nations.
He noted that his country rejects what he described as attempts to use economic pressure to impose political agendas on other nations. He affirmed that Iran will continue to seek alternatives to mitigate the impact of sanctions and strengthen its economic ties with its partners abroad. Araghchi’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Tehran and Washington and the exchange of political and economic pressure between the two sides. In this context, Iran faces increasing challenges related to trade, investment, and access to international markets and financial resources.
The Iranian minister emphasized that protecting economic sovereignty is a priority for his country. He called for international relations based on cooperation and respect for national decisions, free from the politics of sanctions and pressure. US economic sanctions continue to generate international controversy. Washington views them as a means of pressuring governments with which it disagrees on political and security issues. On the other hand, targeted countries believe that their widespread use could have repercussions beyond the stated objectives and impact the global economy.
