Washington, DC – The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that the total number of US military casualties has risen to over 750 since the start of military operations related to the crisis with Iran. This figure is based on the latest official update to the war casualties database.
Details of the figures and the tally of new infections
The latest update from the Department of Defense adds more than 50 new casualties to the list. Meanwhile, diplomacy between Washington and Tehran remains at a standstill. According to figures in the Department of Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS) under the “Overseas Operations” and “Epic Fury” categories, the death toll has reached 18. The number of wounded has reached 757 since the clashes began on February 28.
Context of parliamentary updates and auditing of victim numbers
The release of these figures coincides with ongoing discussions in Congress, where the US Secretary of Defense is testifying before the Senate Appropriations Committee to secure funding for military operations. The Department of Defense has previously faced criticism and media and congressional scrutiny following a temporary fluctuation and decline in the number of recorded casualties. The Pentagon later attributed these discrepancies to temporary technical glitches in data processing before the data was restored to the official system.
