Tel Aviv, Israel – In a move that shatters fragile hopes for stability, the Israeli military today issued new forced displacement orders targeting a series of towns and villages deep in southern Lebanon. These orders perpetuate the ongoing policy of forced displacement. Despite the ceasefire agreement taking effect, the orders remain in place, forcing thousands of civilians into another perilous journey of refuge.
The circle of targets is widening
Via the “X” platform, the Israeli army spokesperson issued urgent warnings to residents of the towns of Qaqaiyat al-Jisr, Adshit al-Shaqif, Jibshit, Iba, Kfarjouz, Harouf, al-Duwayr, Deir al-Zahrani, and Haboush. The army also demanded that residents immediately evacuate their homes and head north, warning of imminent military operations targeting what it described as Hezbollah’s infrastructure.
A military arsenal in the “heart of homes”
In parallel with the evacuation orders, the Israeli army launched a media campaign showcasing videos of what it claimed were massive military seizures found inside civilian homes in southern villages. The army asserted that its forces had confiscated thousands of pieces of weaponry. These seizures included:
More than 1000 boxes of ammunition and 750 pieces of light weaponry.
140 mortar shells and 90 rocket launchers.
60 explosive belts and about 20 anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles.
More than 3300 pieces of “sensitive” technical materials.
The military statement indicated that the 98th Division is currently conducting precise operations in the Bint Jbeil area, specifically on the outskirts of the town of Rashaf. The statement claimed that boxes of hand grenades and Kornet anti-tank guided missiles were found hidden in residential areas.
Threatening with force and violating the truce
The Israeli army justified its recent escalation by accusing Hezbollah of violating the terms of the ceasefire agreement, emphasizing that it “will be forced to act forcefully” to protect its security. The most significant threat was directed at the village of Haboush, where residents were given an ultimatum to evacuate in preparation for violent attacks. These developments on the ground reflect the fragility of the security situation. Residents find themselves caught between the hammer of Israeli military accusations and the anvil of repeated displacement, at a time when international concerns are growing about a complete collapse of diplomatic understandings and a return to full-scale confrontation.
