London, England – Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, expressed his great happiness after his team’s victory over Burnley by a score of 1-0, in the 37th round of the English Premier League.
Arsenal managed to snatch three valuable points at the Emirates Stadium, continuing to put pressure on Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title, with only one round remaining in the season.
Arteta told the BBC: “I’m very happy with the performance and the result. I think we had one of our best runs of the season in the first half”.
He added: “We could have scored more goals, but we didn’t succeed in doing so. However, the team showed its usual character, especially defensively, when we needed to maintain the result”.
The Spanish coach continued: “We faced a strong and stubborn opponent. Burnley fought until the end to come away with a positive result, and that’s what makes the English Premier League such a difficult competition”.
Arteta continued, saying: “We accomplished our mission tonight and achieved what was required of us, and now we have to wait and see what happens in the Manchester City game, after which we will begin preparing for the Crystal Palace match”.
The Gunners’ manager confirmed that he will be watching Manchester City’s match against Bournemouth, adding: “Of course I will watch the game, there is only one game left and we have to maintain the same level we have shown throughout the season”.
Regarding the refereeing controversy surrounding Kai Havertz’s challenge on a Burnley player, Arteta said: “I haven’t seen the footage again. The player told me it didn’t warrant anything, but I can’t judge it before seeing it clearly”.
