Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Najran has intensified its inspection tours of slaughterhouses and public markets in anticipation of Eid al-Adha. This comes as part of a comprehensive field plan aimed at ensuring the safety of sacrificial animals and protecting public health. The plan also seeks to ensure compliance with approved environmental and health regulations.
The inspection campaigns include monitoring operations within licensed slaughterhouses and verifying their readiness to receive the increased number of sacrificial animals during the Eid period. Furthermore, the implementation of health procedures related to veterinary inspection of animals before and after slaughter is being monitored. This aims to guarantee that safe and wholesome meat reaches consumers.
The Ministry confirmed that its inspection and veterinary teams are working around the clock during the Eid season to monitor all operational processes within the slaughterhouses. The teams also monitor any violations that may affect the quality of services or meat safety. They take the necessary legal action against violators in accordance with applicable regulations.
The inspection tours also include monitoring the level of cleanliness and sterilization within the slaughtering facilities. In addition, the teams verify the safety of operating equipment and the methods used for storing and transporting meat. They also supervise the mechanisms for disposing of waste in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. This contributes to maintaining public health and reducing any potential environmental risks.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture urged citizens and residents to utilize approved slaughterhouses and avoid random slaughtering outside designated areas. This is crucial for ensuring the safety of sacrificial animals and guaranteeing that necessary veterinary inspections are conducted according to the highest health standards.
These efforts are part of the relevant authorities’ preparations for the Eid al-Adha season and their commitment to providing comprehensive services to citizens and residents. This contributes to enhancing food safety and maintaining public health during the blessed Eid days.
