Baghdad, Iraq – Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan represents a strategic depth for Iraq.

He emphasized the strength of the historical relations between the two countries

and expressed his hope for opening new horizons for economic and trade cooperation in the coming period.

Strengthening economic partnership

This came during Al-Zaidi reception of a high-level Jordanian ministerial delegation headed by the Minister of Industry,

Trade and Supply, Ya’rub Falah Al-Qudah, and including the Ministers of Energy, Transport, and Investment.

The Jordanian Ambassador to Baghdad and the Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals were also present.

Al-Zaidi expressed the Iraqi government’s desire to elevate the level of bilateral relations,

particularly in increasing the volume of trade and expanding investment opportunities.

He noted that this partnership is a priority for promoting stability and development in the region.

Vital issues on the discussion table

The meeting included extensive discussions on issues of mutual interest, foremost among them the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline project,

which is considered vital for boosting Iraqi oil exports and developing the country’s energy infrastructure.

The two sides also discussed several other important matters, including:

Facilitating visa procedures to enhance the movement of businesspeople and investors between the two countries.

The energy and industry sector: Activating cooperation in energy interconnection and the exchange of industrial expertise.

Transportation and investment: Coordinating efforts to overcome obstacles

facing investment companies and facilitate land transport and logistics services.

Jordanian support for Iraqi reforms

For its part, the Jordanian delegation conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein

and Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan on the occasion of the formation of the Iraqi government.

The delegation also extended a formal invitation to the Iraqi Prime Minister to visit the Kingdom.

Jordanian Minister of Industry and Trade, Yarub Qudah, commended

the progress Iraq has recently made in combating corruption and implementing economic reforms.

He emphasized that improving the investment climate in Iraq opens wide the door

for Jordanian companies to strengthen their presence and contribute to sustainable development projects.

This visit comes at a time when both sides are seeking to enhance joint coordination

and are striving to overcome regional challenges through economic integration.

This reflects the mutual desire to build a model of Arab cooperation that serves the common interests of the two brotherly nations.
