Tehran, Iran – The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the length of the ongoing talks with the Sultanate of Oman is due to the multiplicity of parties involved in the issues under discussion. Furthermore, there are attempts by some parties to influence and undermine the course of the negotiations. The Iranian Foreign Ministry explained that the talks are witnessing intensive discussions on a number of issues. Therefore, more time is required to reach clear understandings that take into account the interests of all parties.
Tehran indicated that the complexities of the regional landscape and the overlapping of political and security issues are contributing to the prolongation of negotiations. It also affirmed that channels of dialogue with Muscat remain open and that efforts are ongoing to overcome existing obstacles. The Iranian Foreign Ministry stressed that some parties are seeking to disrupt the process and thwart any progress that could be achieved through negotiations. However, it also emphasized Tehran’s commitment to the diplomatic track and its pursuit of understandings that serve its interests and reduce tensions in the region. These developments come amidst escalating concerns regarding maritime security and trade in the region. They also unfold against a backdrop of regional and international interest in the outcome of the contacts being facilitated through Omani mediation.
