Tehran, Iran – An advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei asserted that the statements and threats issued by US President Donald Trump constitute a “strategic trap” that Israel is attempting to lure Washington into. This comes amidst escalating tensions in the region recently.
The Iranian official stated that Tel Aviv is trying to exploit the current tensions to ignite a wider confrontation in the Middle East. He added that this is also pushing the US administration to adopt a more hardline stance against Tehran. He emphasized that Iran “will not be drawn into miscalculations or calculated provocations.”
He further stated that the Iranian leadership is closely monitoring US and Israeli political and military movements. He maintained that the language of threats will not achieve its objectives and may, in fact, further complicate the security situation in the region. This is particularly relevant given the ongoing contentious issues related to the Iranian nuclear program and regional tensions.
Khamenei’s advisor indicated that Israel, in his words, seeks to export its internal crises through external escalation and create a state of perpetual confrontation with Iran. He also noted that any new military action could lead to serious repercussions extending beyond the region.
These statements come at a time of heightened political and media tensions between the US and Iran. This is occurring amidst international warnings of a widening circle of tension, particularly following the exchange of sharp messages between Washington and Tehran in recent days.
Regional and international capitals are cautiously monitoring developments, fearing a slide into direct confrontation that could affect maritime security, energy supplies, and stability throughout the Middle East.
