Cairo, Egypt – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi congratulated the Egyptian national football team after their historic achievement of qualifying for the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup for the first time in their history. He praised the players’ performance and fighting spirit throughout the tournament.
President El-Sisi posted a congratulatory message to the national team players and coaching staff on his official Facebook page, expressing his pride in the Pharaohs’ achievements at the World Cup.
President Sisi said: “I congratulate the sons of Egypt, the heroes of the national football team, on this historic achievement of qualifying for the round of 16 of the World Cup for the first time in the team’s history. You have proven that believing in your abilities, competing with a team spirit, and being determined to win achieves accomplishments. All the best in what is to come, and God willing, the journey of achievement and pride will continue”.
The Egyptian national team achieved an unprecedented feat, securing qualification for the Round of 16 of the World Cup for the first time in its history. This came after their victory over Australia in a penalty shootout in the Round of 32, allowing them to continue their journey in the tournament and write a new chapter in the history of Egyptian football.
