Amman, Jordan — The Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs reiterated the urgent need to preserve holy sites in Jerusalem and maintain their historical status. Official statements emphasized that international coordination remains vital to counter unilateral actions in the city. Furthermore, Jordanian officials stressed that protecting religious heritage requires active political and diplomatic intervention.

Preserving Holy Sites in Jerusalem and Historic Agreements

The committee affirmed that the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex represents an exclusive place of worship for Muslims. In addition, officials called for full respect regarding the jurisdiction of the Islamic Waqf administration. Consequently, protecting all holy sites in Jerusalem remains central to preserving regional stability and preventing further conflict.

However, the statement also highlighted the necessity of safeguarding Christian churches and monasteries across the city. Therefore, Jordanian representatives warned that unilateral changes risk undermining long-term peace prospects. Meanwhile, the committee urged international bodies to fulfill their legal obligations under binding United Nations resolutions.

Regional Implications and International Responsibility

Officials warned that altering the established historical framework could trigger severe escalation beyond the city boundaries. As a result, protecting holy sites in Jerusalem serves as a cornerstone for maintaining peace across the Middle East. Ultimately, Jordan continues engaging global diplomatic partners to halt ongoing violations. In conclusion, preserving cultural and religious heritage remains a top priority for the Kingdom.
