Dubai, UAE – Shabab Al Ahli secured their second victory in the ADNOC Pro League, defeating Al Dhafra 2-0 at Rashid Stadium in the second round of matches.
The first half ended in a goalless draw, despite Al Ahli having a slight advantage. Meanwhile, Al Dhafra missed an early opportunity to take the lead when Khalid Abdulrahim Bawazir’s shot went over the bar in the fifth minute.
The home side responded with several attempts, most notably a shot from Yuri Cesar Santos that was saved by Al Dhafra goalkeeper Issa Ahmed Al Hooti, and a header from Matheus Dias Lima that went just wide of the post.
In the final moments of the first half, Al Dhafra were awarded a penalty. However, Shabab Al Ahli goalkeeper Hamad Abdullah Al Muqbali made a brilliant save to deny Sory Kaba’s shot. The first half ended goalless.
Al Ahli pressed hard at the start of the second half, and the post denied Sardar Azmoun two goals in the 49th and 60th minutes.
The pressure resulted in the opening goal in the 71st minute. Yuri Cesar Santos shook the net with a shot from inside the penalty area, following a counter-attack.
