Beirut, Lebanon – The Israeli military announced the killing of a senior commander in Hezbollah’s Badr Brigade in an airstrike that targeted the Deir Zahrani area of southern Lebanon on Saturday. The Israeli military stated that the targeted commander held a senior position within the Badr Brigade and accused him of participating in planning military operations against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.
He added that the commander, according to the Israeli account, participated in managing field operations and the use of armed drones. He noted that the commander had held military responsibilities in several areas over the past few years. The airstrike comes amid continued security tensions in southern Lebanon. Military operations and accusations of violations are escalating, raising fears of renewed and wider confrontations.
Israel continues to assert that it will target what it considers threats emanating from Hezbollah. Meanwhile, calls are growing for de-escalation and the preservation of stability in southern Lebanon. This comes as the region faces ongoing political and security efforts to prevent a wider confrontation. There are also increasing concerns that the exchange of fire could lead to further tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border.
