Gaza, Palestine – The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights called for moving beyond statements and condemnations to concrete steps to pressure Israel and halt its violations in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The Commission’s president, Dr. Salah Abdel-Aati, urged the United States to take a firmer stance against Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, as well as to address settler attacks and other abuses suffered by Palestinians.
Abdel-Aati emphasized the importance of unifying Arab efforts to confront escalating developments and to work towards protecting the Palestinian cause and supporting stability in the region. He stressed the need for a broad international movement to support the Palestinians’ right to establish their independent state. He also called for utilizing all available political, legal, and economic tools to pressure Israel, ensuring respect for international law and UN resolutions, and holding those responsible for violations accountable.
The head of the commission warned of escalating settler attacks in the West Bank, asserting that these attacks, along with settlement expansion, house demolitions, and forced displacement, contribute to imposing new realities on the ground and threaten the future of the Palestinian cause. He pointed to the continued pressure on Palestinians in the West Bank, including the destruction of refugee camps and attempts to displace their residents, as well as the restrictions imposed on the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Abdel-Aati stressed that the current stage requires simultaneous Palestinian and international action, calling for the restoration of national unity and the activation of diplomatic and legal channels to protect Palestinian rights and confront the escalation.
