Doha, Qatar – Qatar has categorically denied what it described as Iranian claims regarding the detention of Iranian pilots, asserting that these allegations do not reflect the reality of the incident that occurred in Qatari airspace. The spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majid Al-Ansari, explained that the pilots entered Qatari airspace. He confirmed that Qatari forces attempted to contact them but received no response. Subsequently, the necessary measures were taken to protect the airspace.

He added that Qatari search and rescue teams were mobilized immediately after the crash to search for the pilots. They were able to recover the remains of one of them. He also noted that Doha had contacted the Iranian side regarding the procedures for handing over the remains. Al-Ansari confirmed that Qatar had extended an invitation to an Iranian team to visit the country and observe the details of the search and rescue operations. However, the invitation has not yet been accepted.

Tehran had reported the detention of three pilots and demanded information on their condition. Doha categorically denied this, asserting that the incident did not fall under the narrative of “pilots being captured.” These developments come amidst heightened regional tensions and diplomatic efforts to contain the escalation and prevent wider confrontations in the Gulf region. Qatar stressed the need for accuracy in handling information related to the incident and affirmed its continued communication with relevant parties. It also stated that it would provide any information it possesses regarding the incident.
