Washington, DC – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated South Korea and its people on their National Liberation Day. He also affirmed the strength of the alliance between the two countries and Washington’s commitment to further developing the strategic partnership with Seoul. Rubio emphasized that US-Korean relations are based on shared interests and strong ties. He also noted the importance of continued cooperation in security, economic, and industrial fields. Furthermore, he stressed the need for coordination on regional and international issues.
The US Secretary of State emphasized that South Korea is a key partner for Washington and that the alliance between the two countries is a vital pillar for supporting security and stability in East Asia. The US message of congratulations comes amidst expanding cooperation between the two nations across multiple sectors, including defense, technology, advanced industries, and supply chains. This coincides with escalating security challenges on the Korean Peninsula. South Koreans commemorate their liberation from Japanese colonial rule on August 15th each year. National Liberation Day is one of the most important national holidays in South Korea.
