Tehran, Iran – The Iranian military announced Wednesday that it had carried out a drone attack targeting what it described as the US base in Doha, located west of Kuwait. This came as part of what it called a response to “repeated attacks” against Iran. In a statement, the Iranian military said that during the 21st phase of Operation True Promise, it conducted an attack targeting ammunition depots, logistical equipment, and a command center belonging to US ground forces inside Camp Doha. It added that it used a large number of suicide drones in the attack.
The statement added that Camp Doha is one of the most prominent US military bases in western Kuwait. According to the Iranian account, it also serves as a major hub for supporting and deploying US forces in the West Asia region. In contrast, the Kuwaiti army announced on Tuesday evening that its forces had successfully repelled drone attacks, which it described as “hostile.” However, its statement did not provide further details regarding the nature of the attacks or the parties responsible.
For its part, the Kuwaiti Cabinet strongly condemned the missile and drone attacks that it said targeted power plants, desalination facilities, and oil installations in recent days. The attacks also targeted a number of vital and civilian facilities, causing fires and material damage. The Iranian claims regarding the targeting of the Doha base and the extent of the damage they claimed to have inflicted on the site could not be independently verified. Furthermore, no official statements have yet been issued by the United States confirming or denying the details reported by the Iranian military.
