Manama, Bahrain – In a new development reflecting the seriousness of the escalation, the Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced material damage to a residential building in Muharraq Governorate. This came in the wake of the Iranian drone attacks that targeted the Kingdom early Sunday morning. The Ministry confirmed that there were no casualties and that the relevant authorities are taking the necessary measures at the site.
For its part, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force confirmed that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed several Iranian missile and drone attacks. In its statement, the Force described this behavior as a “systematic hostile approach targeting civilians,” and affirmed that all its units are at the highest level of readiness to protect the Kingdom. Furthermore, it urged citizens and residents to exercise caution and avoid approaching any unidentified objects resulting from the attacks. It noted that the Royal Field Engineering Unit is working to safely handle these remnants.
Politically, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned in the strongest terms this “dangerous escalation,” asserting that the attacks reveal that Tehran’s actions are not isolated incidents, but rather a deliberate policy that undermines the Kingdom’s sovereignty and the security of its citizens. The Ministry stated that the repeated aggression, despite the issuance of Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), confirms that the Iranian regime is persisting in its transgressions and is disregarding international will.
Manama stressed that this escalation invalidates all Iranian pretexts, as the new aggression comes “on the heels of Tehran’s commitments” under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 17, 2016. This memorandum stipulated a permanent cessation of military operations and respect for the sovereignty of the region’s countries. The Foreign Ministry clarified that this action places Tehran solely responsible for breaking its commitments and undermines any remaining opportunities for de-escalation and stability in the region.
These attacks bring the Gulf region into direct confrontation with Tehran’s escalating policies. Observers emphasize that the deliberate targeting of civilians and private property constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. This reinforces Bahrain’s calls for decisive international action to end this ongoing aggression and hold its perpetrators accountable.
