Caracas, Venezuela – International aid has poured into Venezuela following the two powerful earthquakes of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude that struck the country.
The two earthquakes resulted in dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries.
At the same time, search and rescue operations continue in the most affected areas.
Rescue and emergency aid teams
Mexico, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and Germany announced the provision of urgent aid to Venezuela,
including sending specialized rescue teams, medical personnel, and equipment to support relief operations.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that her country had begun
preparing the required aid in coordination with the Venezuelan authorities.
She indicated that the priority currently focuses on supporting rescue efforts and health care in the affected areas.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva also announced that his government is studying ways to contribute to relief and reconstruction efforts.
He stressed his country’s solidarity with the Venezuelan people.
Growing European support
The Dominican Republic expressed its readiness to send specialized teams
from its armed forces to participate in search and rescue operations and provide emergency medical services.
Germany, for its part, offered to send six military transport aircraft to support relief efforts.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the dispatch of
a specialized rescue and debris removal team to assist in recovering victims and searching for survivors.
Spain also confirmed its readiness to provide the necessary humanitarian aid,
with logistical coordination ongoing to begin support operations in the coming days.
Fears of rising casualties
Emergency teams are continuing their work in La Guaira state, which authorities have declared a disaster area
after dozens of buildings collapsed and infrastructure suffered widespread damage.
The disaster has forced the closure of Simón Bolívar International Airport near the capital,
Caracas, due to the damage it sustained.
Authorities have stated that the current priority is rescuing those trapped under the rubble and providing care for the injured.
Officials have warned that the death toll could rise in the coming hours
as search and rescue operations continue in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, international calls for increased humanitarian aid and support for reconstruction efforts are growing.
