Muscat, Oman – A British maritime authority reported receiving a notification of an incident involving a cargo ship 7.5 nautical miles southeast of a port in Oman.

The vessel sustained damage to its starboard side. No injuries or environmental damage were reported.

Report of an incident near an Omani port

The Authority explained that the accident occurred in a marine area located 7.5 nautical miles southeast of one of the Omani ports.

The competent authorities received notification about the incident and began monitoring its developments.

In addition, she added that preliminary information indicates that the ship suffered damage while it was in the region.

While the competent authorities continue to collect data related to the circumstances of the accident.

Damage to the starboard side of the ship

The authority confirmed that the cargo ship sustained damage to its starboard side,

without disclosing the nature or cause of the damage at this time.

It also indicated that the assessment of the technical damage is ongoing

to ensure the ship’s safety and its ability to continue sailing safely.

No injuries or environmental pollution

The authority quoted the ship’s captain as confirming that no crew members were injured in the incident,

explaining that all personnel on board were in good condition.

It added that initial reports indicated no leakage of fuel or cargo.

This means there has been no environmental impact from the incident so far.

Monitoring and surveillance operations are ongoing to ensure the safety of navigation in the area.
