Washington, DC – US President Donald Trump revealed new details regarding the agreement reached with Iran. He emphasized that the primary objective of the agreement is to ensure that Tehran never acquires a nuclear weapon.
He also predicted rapid progress in the second phase of the understandings between the two sides.
The agreement focuses on the nuclear issue
Trump said the agreement revolves around one main issue: preventing Iran from ever acquiring a nuclear weapon.
He asserted that this goal is the core of the understandings reached.
He added that the agreement will be submitted to the US Congress for review and approval,
in accordance with the constitutional framework in place in the United States.
Trump criticized the nuclear agreement concluded during the administration of former President Barack Obama,
arguing that it provided a pathway for Iran to develop nuclear weapons.
Details will be announced within days
The US president explained that details of the agreement with Iran would be revealed in the coming days.
He indicated that full information would be announced through official channels and institutions.
He also announced his intention to hold a press conference dedicated to explaining the terms of the agreement,
its objectives, and its political and security implications.
Trump affirmed that the next phase would witness further executive actions related to the agreement.
He also expressed optimism about the rapid progress in the subsequent stages of the US-Iranian understandings.
Hormuz and the Abraham Accords
Regarding maritime navigation, Trump said the Strait of Hormuz would be fully open by Friday.
He added that passage through the strait would be toll-free.
He also described the naval blockade imposed on Iran as “excellent and effective,” explaining that it had contributed to the current results.
The US president added that regional obstacles still hinder the expansion of the Abraham Accords.
However, he affirmed the continuation of US efforts to address these challenges and promote normalization and stability in the region.
Trump also indicated that the United States possesses the necessary equipment to deal with nuclear sites and extract what he called “nuclear dust,”
emphasizing the monitoring and verification mechanisms associated with the new agreement with Iran.
