New York, USA – A UN official warned of the continued deterioration of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that the frequency of violations on the ground is undermining the chances of consolidating the truce, thus pushing the situation toward further complications and uncontrolled escalation.
The official explained that the humanitarian situation in the Strip is rapidly worsening. This comes amidst ongoing tensions on the ground and the difficulty of delivering sufficient humanitarian aid, exacerbating the suffering of civilians and weakening international relief efforts.
He added that the failure to fully adhere to the terms of the agreement deepens the instability. It also makes the path to de-escalation fragile and liable to collapse at any moment. He called on all parties to uphold existing agreements and refrain from any actions that could further inflame the situation.
He stressed that the international community is required to redouble its efforts during this critical phase. It must work to prevent further deterioration that could lead to a renewed outbreak of violence in the Gaza Strip, as this would threaten broader regional security and stability.
