Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian national team bowed out of the 2026 World Cup in the Round of 16 following a thrilling 3–2 defeat against Argentina. However, the strong performance delivered by “The Pharaohs” throughout the tournament drew widespread praise from entertainment stars, who were keen to send messages of support and pride to the players and coaching staff; they emphasized that the team had succeeded in restoring hope and bringing smiles to the fans’ faces, and that the loss did not diminish the achievement realized.

Tamer Hosny: A salute and a bow to the national team and Hossam Hassan.

Artist Tamer Hosny was among the first to show support, writing on his Instagram account: “A salute and a bow of respect to the national team and ‘El-Moallem’ Hossam Hassan”—a message in which he praised the performance of the players and the coaching staff throughout the tournament.

Fathy Abdel Wahab: You’ve made us proud.

Actor Fathy Abdel Wahab shared a touching message, stating: “You have made us proud and brought honor to Egyptian football.” He emphasized that the national team set an exemplary standard and that their achievement marks a genuine beginning for a new generation deserving of support and confidence in the years ahead.

Kinda Alloush: Pride of the Arabs

Actress Kinda Alloush wrote on Instagram: “Thank you for the dream; thank you for the overwhelming happiness, the magnificent emotions, and the pride,” adding, “Thank you for uniting Arab hearts, prayers, and dreams.” She emphasized that the national team delivered an exceptional performance and displayed great sportsmanship, giving the new generation room to dream, and described the Egyptian team as the “pride of the Arabs.”

Hesham Maged: You honored us and united us.

Actor Hesham Maged praised the national team’s performance, writing: “Thank you to the men of the national team—coach, players, and technical staff. You did us proud, entertained us, united us, and held our heads high before the world.” His message drew a massive response from the public. Actress Mona Zaki also shared a brief message via Instagram Stories, saying: “Thank you for everything… You did us proud,” while actress Lekaa Elkhamissi wrote: “Egypt’s heroes… Thank you, you did us proud.”

For his part, actor Eyad Nassar wrote on Facebook: “Real men, real men, real men… Hold your heads high; we are proud of you,” while actor Ahmed El Awady simply said: “You’ve done us proud, men.”

Laila Eloui: Defeat Does Not Diminish the Achievement

Actress Laila Eloui shared a photo of the Egyptian national team on Instagram, emphasizing that the match result does not diminish the tremendous effort the players put in throughout the tournament. She stated, “It was God’s will… defeat is a possibility—that is the nature of football—but the most important thing is not to lose faith in our team,” praising the fighting spirit the players displayed right up to the final moments.

Mustafa Gharib and Elissa: The Best Is Yet to Come

Artist Mostafa Gharib emphasized that the national team had achieved a significant milestone, stating: “We dreamed, we strove, we enjoyed the journey, and we accomplished great things.” He extended his thanks to head coach Hossam Hassan, team captain Mohamed Salah, and all the players, expressing confidence that the team would return stronger in upcoming competitions.

The artist Elissa also joined the list of supporters, writing on the “X” platform: “I am proud of you, champions—whatever the result. You made us proud and were the finest representatives of your country and the entire Arab world.”
