Brussels, Belgium – The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has renewed its warnings to airlines regarding the use of Iranian and Iraqi airspace. This comes amid ongoing security tensions and the risk of military escalation in the region.
The agency stressed that the current situation warrants the highest level of caution when planning flights. It urged airlines to conduct thorough risk assessments before operating flights through affected airspace. Furthermore, airlines should continuously monitor security updates.
She noted that regional tensions could affect air navigation safety, necessitating the implementation of necessary precautionary measures. This includes adjusting flight paths or avoiding certain airspace if necessary.
This warning comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region following escalating tensions between Iran and several international actors. Consequently, many global airlines have reviewed their flight routes to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
