Kyiv, Ukraine — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky firmly denied any official state involvement in the bombings of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. According to reporting by Reuters, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine played no formal role in planning or executing the attacks on the gas infrastructure connecting Russia and Germany. Furthermore, Kyiv reaffirmed its commitment to cooperating with ongoing international investigations to clarify the circumstances surrounding the blasts.

Zelensky’s Statements and Position on International Investigations

Speaking to reporters in Kyiv, President Zelensky stated that Ukraine was “never officially involved” in any operations targeting the Nord Stream pipeline network. In addition, he highlighted that Ukrainian authorities are closely monitoring legal and investigative proceedings conducted by international bodies. Consequently, the Ukrainian government seeks to refute persistent allegations linking state institutions to the sabotage.

Meanwhile, judicial investigations continue as two Ukrainian nationals remain detained over suspected involvement in the operation. Therefore, Kyiv maintains a clear distinction between potential unauthorized individual actions and official state authorization. As a result, European law enforcement authorities are continuing efforts to establish the complete chain of responsibility behind the attack.

Nord Stream Infrastructure Damage and Regional Impact

The explosions in September 2022 caused extensive damage to both Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 under the Baltic Sea. Consequently, the blasts halted natural gas transit through key supply corridors and sparked widespread international speculation regarding responsibility. At the same time, global observers continue tracking investigative milestones related to energy security and Baltic maritime protection.

Ultimately, Kyiv’s position centers on rejecting claims of official state participation in the energy infrastructure attack. In conclusion, forthcoming findings from judicial investigations remain crucial for identifying the perpetrators and organizers of the pipeline explosions.
