The round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup has ended, after the quarter-final lineup was completed, following Switzerland’s qualification at the expense of Colombia on penalties, in the last match of this round.
The stage witnessed the exit of the Egyptian national team from the tournament after losing to Argentina with a score of (3-2), in a match that sparked widespread controversy due to the refereeing decisions.
Meanwhile, the Moroccan national team continued to make history, after reaching the quarter-finals as the only remaining Arab and African representative in the tournament, setting up a meeting with the French national team.
SofaScore revealed the ideal lineup for the round of 16, which was devoid of any Egyptian player, while the Moroccan national team imposed its presence with three players, namely Achraf Hakimi, Noussair Mazraoui, and Azzedine Ounahi, after the outstanding level presented by the “Atlas Lions” during the match against the Netherlands.
