Brasilia, Brazil – The Brazilian Football Confederation has made its final decision regarding the future of Italian Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of the Brazilian national team. This comes after the Seleção’s elimination from the 2026 World Cup.
The Brazilian national team was eliminated from the tournament in the round of 16 after losing to Norway 2-1. This continues their absence from the World Cup podium since their last victory in 2002.
Despite the controversy surrounding Ancelotti’s future following the early elimination, especially since he renewed his contract with the Brazilian Football Confederation just a few weeks ago, indications suggest he will remain in his position.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian Football Confederation and Ancelotti have reached an agreement to honor their existing contract. The Italian coach will continue to lead the national team in the coming period.
Romano explained that the federation is committed to its project with Ancelotti, which extends until the 2030 World Cup finals. The coach will begin working on rebuilding the Brazilian national team in preparation for upcoming competitions, most notably the 2028 Copa America and then the 2030 World Cup.
