Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian Football Association, headed by Hani Abu Rida, announced the extension of the contract of Hossam Hassan, the national team’s head coach, to continue in his position until 2030. This came after the historic run that the “Pharaohs” presented in the 2026 World Cup.
The Egyptian Football Association’s board decision came as a continuation of the technical project led by Hossam Hassan, following his success in guiding the Egyptian national team to an unprecedented achievement. The team qualified for the Round of 16 of the World Cup for the first time in Egyptian football history. Furthermore, they secured the Pharaohs’ first-ever victory in the tournament, in addition to advancing beyond the group stage for the first time.
The Egyptian national team had ended its tournament by losing to Argentina by a score of (3-2) in the round of 16. This came after he gave a remarkable performance that received wide praise.
The Football Association announces the continuation of the coaching staff
The Egyptian Football Association explained on its official website that the decision to renew the contracts of Hossam Hassan, along with Ibrahim Hassan, the national team manager, comes as part of the board’s commitment to completing the national team’s technical project. This is aimed at building upon the positive results and achievements of the past period.
For his part, Hani Abu Rida confirmed that the board of directors will finalize the official procedures for approving the contract extension during its next meeting. This will take place immediately upon the national team’s return home.
In the same context, Mustafa Abu Zahra, a member of the Egyptian Football Association’s board of directors, revealed that Hossam Hassan’s new contract will extend until 2030. This move aims to provide technical stability for the national team in the coming period and to prepare for upcoming continental and international competitions.
