Kuwait, amid the rapidly evolving situation in the region, announced this morning, Wednesday, that technical damage has occurred to parts of the country’s power transmission network. This damage resulted from shrapnel falling from air defenses intercepting hostile targets during recent attacks.
Ensuring the continuity of essential services
In an effort to calm public opinion and prevent the spread of rumors, the ministry confirmed in an official statement via its official Twitter account that the limited damage to power transmission lines had not affected service continuity. Furthermore, the ministry emphasized that electricity and water supplies in all governorates were continuing normally and without interruption. It also confirmed that the ministry’s operations were proceeding according to its usual operational plans despite the incident.
Emergency teams moved in and assessed the damage.
Immediately after the incident, the ministry mobilized its technical emergency teams. These teams began coordinating directly and closely with security agencies and relevant authorities to reach the affected sites. The teams also assessed the extent of the material damage and immediately began implementing the necessary repairs to the lines affected by the shrapnel. This aims to ensure the network returns to full operational capacity as quickly as possible.
The Kuwaiti army continues to repel attacks
Simultaneously, the Kuwaiti Army General Staff issued an official statement confirming that air defense systems continue their vigilant response to hostile missile and drone attacks targeting the country. The General Staff clarified that the sounds of explosions heard by citizens and residents in some areas are the result of successful interceptions. Air defense forces are conducting these interceptions against these threats.
The General Staff called on the public to remain calm and fully comply with the security and safety instructions issued by official authorities. It also stressed the importance of obtaining information from official sources and avoiding interaction with unverified news that may be intended to spread panic. This mobilization comes at a time when Kuwait is on high alert to protect its sovereignty and the safety of its residents, amidst ongoing military operations in the region that have caused collateral damage to vital infrastructure.
