Kuwait – In a significant military escalation, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced Wednesday morning that its armed forces successfully intercepted and destroyed a massive aerial attack targeting Kuwaiti airspace. Ministry spokesman Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan confirmed that Kuwaiti air defenses neutralized two ballistic missiles and 13 drones belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran immediately after they penetrated the country’s airspace.
No loss of life or property
In an official statement, Al-Atwan explained that the interceptions were carried out with high precision. He also noted that these attacks did not cause any material damage or casualties, thanks to the rapid response of the air defense systems. Al-Atwan affirmed that the Kuwaiti Armed Forces continue to perform their duties with the highest levels of readiness and preparedness, within the framework of the comprehensive defense plan to ensure the protection of the country’s borders and the safety of its citizens and residents.
Kuwaiti army reassures citizens
Simultaneously, the Kuwaiti Army General Staff issued a statement reassuring the public, confirming that the sounds of explosions heard in some areas were the result of successful interception operations carried out by air defenses against hostile threats. The General Staff urged everyone to strictly adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by official authorities. It also stressed the importance of disregarding rumors.
Security alert in Bahrain
Meanwhile, the heightened security alert extended to the Kingdom of Bahrain, where the Ministry of Interior in Manama sounded sirens again this morning. The Ministry urged all residents to remain calm and seek shelter in the nearest safe locations. This comes amidst the continued state of high alert following the attacks that targeted vital sites in the Kingdom.
These developments come at a time of heightened tension in the Gulf region. Countries in the region continue to bolster their defenses against repeated attacks by Iran. Furthermore, this attack is seen as a test of the region’s joint air defense capabilities. Interceptor systems have proven their effectiveness in countering multiple aerial threats, thus enhancing military readiness against any attempts to destabilize the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
