Abu Dhabi, UAE – Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed current regional developments during a telephone call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. They also discussed the repercussions of the escalation in the region on international security and stability.
Repercussions of regional escalation
During the call, the two sides discussed the repercussions of the Iranian missile attacks targeting the UAE and several other countries in the region, and their impact on maritime security, energy supplies, and the stability of the global economy.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed his appreciation for the United States’ position and its solidarity with the UAE in confronting these challenges. He emphasized the importance of international coordination to contain the fallout from the escalation.
Efforts for de-escalation and peace
The two sides reviewed the latest developments, particularly regarding the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. They also discussed ways to enhance prospects for achieving lasting regional peace through collective action and intensified diplomatic efforts.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed also commended the efforts of US President Donald Trump and his Secretary of State in supporting de-escalation initiatives, including efforts to achieve peace between Lebanon and Israel.
