Ankara, Turkey – The management of Turkish club Besiktas is intensifying its efforts to finalize the signing of Egyptian Mohamed Salah, captain of the Egyptian national team and former Liverpool star, during the current summer transfer window.
Salah brought his Liverpool career to a close at the end of last season. His nine seasons with the club were filled with achievements, during which he won every major trophy with the team, in addition to achieving numerous individual records and awards.
The Turkish newspaper Fanatik reported that Besiktas officials will meet today, Friday, with Ramy Abbas, Mohamed Salah’s agent. The meeting will be to continue negotiations and reach a final agreement on the transfer.
The newspaper added that the two sides had previously reached a preliminary agreement for the player to sign a two-year contract. This would be for an annual salary of up to 12 million euros.
She explained that the deal was delayed because the player’s agent demanded an additional commission of €6 million. As a result, this demand prompted the Turkish club’s management to postpone finalizing the agreement. The management decided to delay until a mutually agreeable solution could be reached.
According to the report, the upcoming meeting will discuss the financial details related to the commission. This comes as Besiktas remains committed to finalizing the contract according to the previously agreed-upon framework. There is also a shared desire to conclude negotiations within the next few hours.
Fanatik concluded its report by noting that Besiktas’ management preferred to postpone further negotiations with Mohamed Salah’s agent until after their Europa League qualifying match against Danish side Midtjylland. The Turkish team won that match 1-0.
