Washington, DC – A Democratic congressman in the US House of Representatives sharply criticized the Trump administration, accusing it of pursuing trade policies that directly contributed to rising prices for electronic devices, impacting both consumers and businesses.

The congressman asserted that tariffs and trade measures adopted by the administration recently increased the cost of importing numerous electronic components and products, forcing companies to pass on the majority of these price hikes to the end consumer.

He explained that smartphones, computers, tablets, and consumer technology products have become more expensive as a result of current economic policies, noting that American citizens are the most affected by these measures amid continued inflationary pressures and rising living costs.

He added that the administration justifies these policies as aimed at protecting American industry and reducing dependence on foreign imports, but their actual results, he said, have shown price increases without any tangible gains for consumers or domestic markets.

For its part, the Trump administration maintains that the tariffs are part of a broader strategy to boost manufacturing within the United States and encourage companies to relocate their production lines domestically, thereby creating new jobs and strengthening the American economy in the long term.

Economic experts believe that continued trade disputes could lead to further volatility in technology markets, with expectations that prices for a number of electronic devices will remain high if current trade restrictions persist without significant changes.
