Washington, DC – The New York Times has revealed a startling development, citing senior US officials who stated that the Israeli airstrike targeting the residence of former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the outset of the current war with Iran was not intended to assassinate Ahmadinejad. Rather, its true, covert objective was to free him from the house arrest imposed on him by Iranian authorities. This was achieved by eliminating his guards and releasing him immediately.
US-Israeli plan to change the regime in Tehran
The American newspaper, in its extensive intelligence report, stated that this airstrike was not merely a routine tactical operation. Rather, it was a driving force behind a broader strategic plan jointly devised by the United States and Israel. Its primary objective was to effect a radical change in the regime in Tehran. It also aimed to reinstate Ahmadinejad to power as the country’s new leader.
In their confidential statements, US officials added that the meticulously planned operation failed to achieve its ultimate goals after Ahmadinejad himself was wounded in the missile attack. They also noted that the former president’s whereabouts and current health status remain unknown.
The newspaper further reported that Iranian security and judicial authorities have formally charged Ahmadinejad with high treason and direct collaboration with the West. He has also been accused of spying for Israel. The details of how he was recruited by foreign intelligence remain unknown to Iranian authorities.
Conflicting reports surround his fate, and his party denies his death.
These dramatic developments have brought renewed attention to the mystery surrounding Ahmadinejad’s fate since the beginning of the conflict. The party of former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad issued an official statement in early March categorically denying the news and media reports that he had been killed in the airstrike.
The party’s denial came after the official Iranian news agency ILNA reported earlier that Ahmadinejad, 69, had indeed been killed in a violent airstrike targeting Tehran. The agency stated at the time that he died inside his home in the eastern part of the capital, Tehran, along with his bodyguard. However, recent Western reports have revealed the true dimensions of that ambiguous strike and the intelligence plans being hatched behind the scenes internationally to reshape the Iranian political landscape.
