Tehran, Iran – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi affirmed that Pakistan’s mediation efforts between regional parties have not failed, despite the political complexities and escalating tensions witnessed in the region recently. He emphasized that diplomatic contacts are ongoing to reach understandings that will de-escalate the situation.
In remarks carried by Iranian media, Araqchi explained that some negotiation tracks naturally face difficulties and obstacles related to the interconnectedness of regional and international issues. However, this does not mean the collapse or cessation of mediation efforts. He maintained that continuing dialogue is preferable to sliding into further tension and instability.
The Iranian Foreign Minister indicated that his country views Pakistan’s efforts to open channels of communication between the various parties positively. He affirmed that Tehran supports any political or diplomatic efforts that would prevent the escalation of crises in the region.
In the same vein, Araqchi welcomed China’s growing role in supporting regional stability. He also emphasized that Beijing has become a significant player in de-escalation efforts, particularly given its balanced relations with many countries in the region. Furthermore, he noted that China has the capacity to promote solutions based on dialogue and political understanding.
He added that Iran believes in the importance of multiple international and regional mediators in complex issues. He explained that recent Chinese moves reflect a genuine desire to maintain regional security and protect shared economic and strategic interests.
These statements come at a time of intense diplomatic activity in the region. This comes amid international concerns about escalating tensions and their impact on maritime security, energy security, and political stability in the Middle East.
