  • Stability in the South and the Suwaida Roadmap

Amman, Jordan – Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, received US Special Envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack, on Saturday. The meeting focused on strengthening joint coordination to support the sovereignty and stability of the Syrian Arab Republic. They also discussed sensitive field issues in northern and southern Syria.

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the meeting addressed the latest developments in Syria within the framework of ongoing cooperation between the two countries. The statement added that this cooperation contributes to supporting the Syrian government in its efforts to consolidate security, protect national sovereignty, and ensure the unity of Syrian territory. It also emphasized the need to safeguard the rights and safety of all Syrian citizens.

The Aleppo file and the “March 10” agreement

The situation in Aleppo was a key focus of the discussions. Safadi and Barak emphasized the importance of consolidating the ceasefire. They affirmed Jordan’s and the United States’ commitment to supporting efforts aimed at de-escalating the situation and preventing further escalation, thereby ensuring the protection of civilians and the restoration of stability. Both sides stressed the necessity of adhering to the March 10, 2025 agreement, which the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had previously committed to. They emphasized the importance of the SDF’s peaceful withdrawal from Aleppo, which would contribute to strengthening security and stability in the city.

Stability in the South and the Suwaida Roadmap

Regarding southern Syria, the two officials affirmed their continued joint efforts to implement the roadmap for ending the crisis in Suwaida Governorate, which was adopted on September 16, 2025. They considered reaching a sustainable solution in Suwaida a fundamental pillar for the stability of southern Syria and the entire region. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation on various issues related to the Syrian situation, particularly in support of a political solution that preserves the security and stability of Syria and its neighbors.
