Moscow, Russia – Russia has escalated its rhetoric against Britain, warning London of the consequences of providing military support to Ukraine, following reports of British-made drones being used in attacks inside Russian territory. These reports have angered Moscow, which views the provision of military equipment to Kyiv that could be used to strike targets within Russia as an indication of Britain’s expanding involvement in the conflict.
Russia stated that Britain’s continued provision of weapons and military equipment to Ukraine would not go unanswered, warning that the repercussions of this support could affect relations between Moscow and London and increase the risk of a wider confrontation. These Russian warnings followed press reports indicating that Ukrainian forces had used drones developed or manufactured by British companies. Furthermore, these drones were reportedly used in operations targeting military sites and facilities within Russian territory.
Moscow views this type of support not merely as military aid to Ukraine, but rather as reflecting, in its view, the increasing involvement of Western countries in operations targeting Russia. In contrast, Britain continues to affirm its support for Ukraine, as part of its efforts to bolster Kyiv’s military capabilities against Russian forces. London continues to provide the Ukrainian army with advanced military equipment and systems.
Britain had announced plans to boost drone production for Ukraine, at a time when drones have become a key element in military operations between the two sides, both for reconnaissance and long-range attacks. This Russian-British escalation comes at a sensitive stage of the war, with the increasing use of drones to target military sites, infrastructure, and industrial facilities. This raises the possibility of operations expanding beyond traditional front lines. Moscow warns that the continued flow of Western weapons to Ukraine, especially equipment capable of long-range attacks, could have serious repercussions. Meanwhile, London and its allies maintain that their support for Kyiv is intended to help it counter Russian military operations.
