Hanoi, Vietnam – Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction issued urgent directives Tuesday to the Civil Aviation Authority and the national carrier, Vietnam Airlines. The ministry called for full coordination with German authorities to determine the cause of the Boeing 787-9 crash at Munich Airport, according to official media reports. The directives included a requirement for the Civil Aviation Authority to establish a direct and official channel of communication with German investigators. The ministry also requested active participation in the ongoing investigations, in strict accordance with international treaties and conventions governing aviation accidents. Furthermore, the ministry emphasized the need for stricter oversight of flight crew training programs and enhanced monitoring of the maintenance and operation of Vietnam’s air fleet.

Details of the accident and the forced return

The incident occurred last Saturday during Vietnam Airlines flight VN34, en route from Munich Airport in Germany to Hanoi, Vietnam. According to initial reports from the Civil Aviation Authority, the Boeing 787-9 issued technical warnings shortly after takeoff. The warnings indicated a possible tail-on collision, as well as abnormal tire pressure readings. The flight crew immediately and professionally handled the situation, notifying air traffic control. A decision was then made to return to Munich Airport for a thorough technical inspection and to ensure passenger safety.

Safe landing and passenger safety

Official data indicated that the aircraft circled Munich for approximately two hours to consume fuel and reduce weight. It then landed safely at the airport. The high level of professionalism of the flight crew resulted in no injuries among the 271 passengers. Similarly, none of the 16 crew members were injured and disembarked in good health.

Strict measures and prevention of rumors

In the same vein, the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction instructed Vietnam Airlines to fully cooperate with German authorities and the aircraft and engine manufacturers. The ministry also warned against disseminating any unreliable information that could cause panic among passengers and the public. Furthermore, it demanded accurate and objective reports, and the immediate submission of the German investigation’s findings and corrective measures upon their completion.
