Washington, DC – The Trump administration moved swiftly to support rescue and relief efforts in Colombia following a powerful earthquake that struck large parts of the country. The earthquake caused casualties and injuries, as well as significant damage to buildings and infrastructure. The United States announced approximately $15.5 million in emergency aid to Colombia to support those affected and provide shelter, food, and protection. The aid also includes support for humanitarian response operations in the hardest-hit areas.

The US administration confirmed it is closely monitoring the disaster and is prepared to provide necessary support to Colombian authorities. Meanwhile, rescue teams continue searching for survivors amid fears that people may be trapped under the rubble. A powerful earthquake struck western Colombia, causing landslides and damage in several areas. As a result, authorities have raised the alert level and deployed emergency and rescue teams to the affected regions.

Rescue teams are focused on reaching survivors as quickly as possible, while simultaneously evacuating residents from affected areas. They are also working to provide basic necessities for families who have lost their homes or been forced to leave. The U.S. response comes as international efforts to support Colombia continue. Meanwhile, local authorities are assessing the extent of the damage and determining the urgent needs of those affected by the earthquake.
