Bogotá, Colombia – The aftermath of the earthquake that struck parts of Colombia has revealed widespread damage, with approximately 5,000 homes, 42 buildings, and 3 hospitals affected. Intensive efforts are underway to assess the losses and evaluate the damage caused by the tremor.

The damage has sparked concern among residents, particularly in areas that experienced strong tremors. Meanwhile, emergency and rescue teams are continuing to inspect damaged buildings and facilities. They are searching for anyone in need of assistance.

The earthquake caused damage to a number of homes and buildings. Authorities are facing a significant challenge in dealing with the aftermath. This is particularly true given the damage to healthcare facilities, which should be among the first to receive the injured and affected.

Specialized agencies are conducting engineering assessments of the damaged buildings and structures. They aim to determine their structural integrity and identify those requiring evacuation or reinforcement. The cleanup and debris removal efforts are also ongoing.

These developments are taking place amidst a state of alert in the affected areas. There are warnings of the risk of aftershocks. Therefore, authorities continue to monitor the situation on the ground and provide assistance to residents whose homes were damaged.
