Mokha, Yemen – Yemeni sources told Sky News Arabia that the Houthi group has resumed its attacks on the port of Mokha on Yemen’s west coast,
using missiles and drones, in a new escalation that threatens to increase tensions in the Red Sea region.

The sources said the attacks targeted the port of Mokha and its surrounding area.

Meanwhile, authorities are continuing to assess the damage caused by the bombardment.

A final count of casualties and material losses has not yet been released.

The strategic importance of the port of Mocha

This escalation comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, fueled by concerns about the repercussions of the attacks

on maritime security and the movement of commercial vessels transiting the Red Sea.

The port of Mocha holds strategic importance due to its location

on Yemen’s western coast and its proximity to international shipping lanes.

Therefore, any attack on the area makes it a matter of regional and international concern.

Details of the nature of the attacks and the extent of the damage

The resurgence of missile and drone attacks raises concerns about a wider escalation,

particularly given the ongoing military tensions related to the Houthis and maritime traffic in the Red Sea.

Yemeni and regional observers are awaiting further details regarding the nature of the attacks and the extent of the damage.

They are also watching to see if these recent developments will lead

to renewed military operations or further disrupt maritime traffic in the region.
