Moscow, Russia – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had carried out a large-scale attack targeting facilities belonging to the military-industrial complex and logistics support centers used for military purposes in and around the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. The ministry stated in a statement carried by Sputnik news agency that the strikes targeted the Vishnevoi logistics center, which it said is used for receiving, storing, assembling, and distributing components for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as well as producing components for long- and medium-range drones and storing their warheads.
Electronics and radar factories were hit
She added that the attacks also targeted the Kyiv-1 electronics assembly plant, which belongs to the state-owned Burevestnik plant, and which she said produces electronic components and parts for drones, as well as developing and producing radar equipment for Ukrainian forces.
Destruction of electronic warfare and missile systems
According to the statement, the strikes targeted the Kyiv-25 industrial facility, which Moscow accused of producing and storing software and hardware for the Lima electronic warfare system, used to spoof navigation signals for precision-guided weapons. The statement added that the strikes also targeted the Kyiv-111 industrial facility, which it said produces components and warheads for Flamingo FB-5 cruise missiles, as well as storing chemicals used in the production of solid fuel boosters.
Objectives of ongoing operations in Kyiv
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the operation was part of a broad attack that targeted the facilities of the military industrial complex and logistical support centers used for military purposes in Kiev and its surroundings, as part of ongoing operations to neutralize Ukrainian military capabilities and destroy the infrastructure supporting the war effort in Kiev and its various neighboring provinces.
