Damascus, Syria – A UN report has confirmed that Syria’s chances of recovery in the coming period depend on the country’s ability to rebuild trust between citizens and institutions, improve living conditions, support the economy, and provide basic services, as these are essential pillars for achieving stability and sustainable development.

The report explained that the long years of conflict have left behind broad economic, social, and humanitarian challenges, including the deterioration of infrastructure, rising poverty and unemployment rates, and the displacement of millions of Syrians both within and outside the country. This makes the recovery process one that requires integrated efforts and long-term investments.

He noted that improving livelihoods, creating job opportunities, and rehabilitating public services such as education, healthcare, electricity, and water are urgent priorities for strengthening the resilience of local communities and encouraging the safe and voluntary return of internally displaced persons and refugees.

The report stressed that achieving sustainable recovery in Syria requires broad international cooperation and sustained support for development and reconstruction programs, with a focus on building trust among all parties, thereby contributing to a more stable environment and supporting the path to peace and development in the country.
