Jakarta, Indonesia – Indonesian authorities have arrested the former anti-corruption prosecutor as part of a wide-ranging investigation into suspected corruption and abuse of power. This move reflects the government’s continued efforts to pursue officials involved in corruption cases, even after they leave office.

Authorities stated that the former official faces charges of receiving illicit benefits and abusing his position while in charge of sensitive files. They added that the investigation was based on evidence and documents gathered over the past few months, along with witness testimonies.

Authorities explained that the suspect was interrogated before being detained pending further investigation. Investigators are continuing to examine his financial transactions and decisions during his tenure to determine if there were any other irregularities or involvement.

The Corruption Eradication Commission and the Public Prosecutor’s Office affirmed that the investigation will be conducted transparently and in accordance with the law. They emphasized that the anti-corruption campaign will not exempt any official, regardless of their position or previous rank, as part of efforts to strengthen integrity and accountability within state institutions.

Indonesia has intensified its anti-corruption campaigns in recent years, leading to the prosecution and conviction of several high-ranking officials, politicians, and business leaders. These efforts are part of the government’s endeavors to bolster public trust in the justice system, improve the investment climate, and combat financial crimes.
