New Delhi, India – India is witnessing a remarkable wave of protests that has captured public attention, after demonstrators resorted to using cockroaches as a symbolic means of expressing their anger over living conditions and public services. Observers consider this one of the most unusual forms of protest in recent years, amid mounting pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

The crisis stems from growing complaints about the deterioration of basic services in several regions. Protesters have accused local authorities of failing to address problems with sanitation, sewage, and insect infestations. They believe that ignoring these crises has driven them to use cockroaches during demonstrations to deliver their message directly and draw the attention of officials.

These protests sparked widespread reaction on social media, with images and videos circulating of participants holding banners and chanting slogans criticizing the government’s performance. Opponents described the scene as reflecting public discontent with the deterioration of some services, while government supporters argued that the move was more about stirring controversy than offering practical solutions.

For its part, the government confirmed that it is monitoring the protesters’ demands, noting that measures are being taken to improve sanitation and public health services. It emphasized that the government is continuing to implement its infrastructure and municipal service development plans across the various states.

Observers believe that these protests represent a new challenge for Modi’s government, which is facing increasing criticism regarding the level of services in some cities. This comes at a time when the government is striving to maintain its popularity and implement its development programs amidst public demands for swift solutions to the daily problems affecting citizens’ lives.
